| Job Summary: |
This position performs highly responsible professional accounting and
analytical services for the UW Institute for Clinical & Translational Research
(ICTR), UW-School of Medicine and Public Health. This position involves a
broad variety of complex fiscal management and accounting activities including
research contract administration and management (both pre- and post-award);
collaboration in departmental financial management; research billing management
for up to 100 active research accounts; and verification of departmental
funding and fund availability for expenditures. Additional duties involves a broad variety of complex fiscal management and accounting activities including: monitoring and coordination of fiscal year end closing; monitoring expenditures and reconciling fund balances; interpreting grant and endowment requirements and deadlines and ensuring expenditures are in line with these requirements; recommending action on various accounting questions; serving as a business operations resource person for accounting policy interpretation and implementation. This position will also produce and maintain ICTR fiscal-related standard operating procedures and provide training as needed to ICTR staff members. The incumbent will also provide training to principal investigators or their designees on how to review their own on-line financial data. An understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required. Due to the highly specialized nature of this department, the incumbent requires a working knowledge of, or ability to quickly grasp, the concepts of clinical and translational research processes. Specifically, knowledge of hospital and professional billing concepts is highly desirable. A basic understanding of the relationship between patient insurance and research billing is also desirable. Initiative, judgment, and independent decision-making is also required in order to achieve ICTR goals and maintain fiscal management. The incumbent must also be able to handle multiple, multi-faceted and detailed responsibilities. All ICTR employees are expected to demonstrate professionalism by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with managers, supervisor(s), co-workers, faculty, staff, and customers. | |
