| Job Summary: |
Under general supervision, this position functions under the direction of the
Departments of Pharmacology Administrator. The department provides
administrative services to 12 faculty, 22 Academic Staff, 15 employees in
training, 44 Student Assistants and 4 Classified/LTE staff. The annual
expenditures of the department are $9.8 million dollars including
administration of over 100 active federal and non federal gift and grant UW
accounts, UW Foundation accounts, and UWMF accounts. The day-to-day supervisor of this position will be the Academic Program Manager. The primary purpose of this position is to provide responsible accounting, record keeping, and analytical services to the Chair, administration, faculty, and staff. This position exercises independent judgement in decisions involving the academic (UW) operation of the Department. Knowledge of the organizational structures as well as the rules of the departments, the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH), NIH, and other agencies is necessary to effectively carry out the responsibilities of the position. The position performs exact accounting, record-keeping, and analytical services for the department and is responsible and accountable for proper controls and the accuracy of each transaction. This position is also responsible for post-award grants administration and financial management of departmental resources, developing and maintaining financial data and all appropriate record-keeping systems for multiple funding sources for designated user groups. The Financial Specialist 3 (FS3) will also be the primary contact person for all human resources and payroll transactions for non-faculty staff. Exercise of initiative, judgment, and independent decision making is required to achieve Departmental goals. This position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, and learning skills as well as the ability to work independently within the varied academic and health care/physician environment and a large, complex, evolving set of rules and regulations. | |
