Job Summary:   Under the general supervision of the Bulidings/Grounds Supervisor, this position is responsible for the operation of mechanical, HVAC, and refrigeration systems in a group of buildings. Responsibilities include: diagnosing building mechanical problems and ensuring satisfactory operation of building systems; identifying, correcting, reporting and communicating building operational and maintenance needs; performing repairs on equipment; performing scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance actions on equipment. Employees performing in this position are expected to function as a one person shop, during the weekends and holiday coverage. Provide support and assist as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency. This position was previously staffed at the HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist-Advanced level, but has been downgraded for developmental purposes.

Requirements:
  Long periods of standing and walking, frequent lifting of objects weighing approximately 50 pounds, infrequent lifting of up to 80 pounds, and a driver's license which meet UW Risk Management standards.

Posted as a HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist or HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist-Advanced for contractual transfer with priority given to the most senior HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist-Advanced. If position is not filled by a HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist-Advanced, transfer of the most senior HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist will be considered.
