BS in Nursing required.

License/certification:

Registered Nurse required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Minimum of 2 years previous experience with clinical research studies, with at least 1 year of experience working with kidney transplant patients preferred.
A minimum of five years experience required for appointment at the senior level.

Highly developed English writing/grammar skills and knowledge of Microsoft Work and Excel are required.

Principal duties:

The Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator will be responsible for all duties related to the coordination of the Principal Investigator's (PI) current and future research; specific to a 3 year grant. This individual must be willing to work a flexible schedule and may need to work outside the normal business hours 8-4:30 pm occasionally to aid in the completing the research studies.

1. Plan, conduct and implement research studies in collaborations with the PI. Aid the PI in maintaining correspondence with outside organizations related to the research studies, including the IRB, NIH, Clinical and Translational Research Core (CTRC), Wisconsin Institute for Medical Research (WIMR), Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB), and other organizations. Coordinate meetings between the PI and other investigators and organizations in relation to the research studies.

2. Prepare and submit documents related to the research studies, including IRB renewals and change of protocol, DSMB reports, NIH progress reports, CTRC applications and reviews, magnetic resonance (MR) research applications, and other applications or reports.

3. Recruit and consent research subjects for clinical research studies. Close attention to given individual study protocols and their requirements. Once a subject is enrolled, the successful applicant will need to coordinate the radiology and laboratory portions of the study, including reserving scanner time and determining the timing for blood draws and urine collection. The research study will need to be coordinated with the patients' clinical care; knowledge of the transplant clinic schedule and interaction with the transplant coordinators is imperative.

4. Will need to manage telephone interviews and one-on-one interactions with patients and research subjects. Consent subjects, assuring the research protocol is strictly adhered to, IRB and HIPAA guidelines are followed.

5. Will prepare the subjects for the study and guide them from different areas of radiology, laboratory and other areas of the hospital to complete the study. Will need to assess subject's vitals, draw blood, collect urine, and mange the handling of these study-related specimens. Provide positive and effective support to the subject throughout the research study process.

6. Assist the PI with research during and after the study procedure. Complete research subject source record and data entry. Maintain subject data files and database. Analyze data acquired in preparation for manuscripts or grant submissions. Interact with the PI to obtain data, complete applications and edit documents when necessary. Aid the PI in editing and preparing manuscripts and grant submissions.

8. Contribute to teamwork within and between departments, division, program and other organizations. Perform work in conformance with established hospital and University program policies and procedures and all federal and state regulations.
